Description
In the past, we were almost always outside, which could damage our eyes. These goggles protected us from the sun's glare on the snow. They were particularly useful on multi-day trips into the woods, or in April, kawasokwatotc kizis, “the shiny month”. Without them, our eyes and eyesight can be damaged.

These glasses are made of caribou bone, probably a shoulder blade. The bone is pierced at eye level. They can also be made from beaver or moose bone. The goggles are attached to a rope, which is passed around the head.
