- Description
-
In the past, we were almost always outside, which could damage our eyes. These goggles protected us from the sun's glare on the snow. They were particularly useful on multi-day trips into the woods, or in April, kawasokwatotc kizis, “the shiny month”. Without them, our eyes and eyesight can be damaged.
These glasses are made of caribou bone, probably a shoulder blade. The bone is pierced at eye level. They can also be made from beaver or moose bone. The goggles are attached to a rope, which is passed around the head. - Format
